Got Juice?

I have a question that requires your help (expertise) answering.

As you may have heard, Canseco is in the news again, this time criticizing the Mitchell Report. Amongst many other things, he feels "there are definitely a lot of players missing from the report."

If he's right in saying over 85% of players juice or use PED's (performance enhancing drugs), or let's say even 50% of players, should we feel sympathy for him? I mean, the guys been basically black-balled from baseball. From a cheating standpoint, he could be considered no worse than Clemens, Tejada, Mo Vaughn, or Mike Lansing (had to name drop), right?

I suppose the same case could be made for Giambi?

Stuck with this one. Although you're making some great comments.

I say ban all of their sorry asses and call it a day. Now there is a big difference between HGH and steroid usage, or at least when HGH was not deemed illegal by MLB. If you were found using HGH after they banned it or steroids BYE BYE and by the way all the records set by these players should be washed off the board too. It’ll be a big hit to baseball but that is the only way they are going to get a handle on this. Yes, there would be MANY big names taken out of the league but so be it. They knew there would be ramifications for what they were doing when they took this crap. I’m sure not many would test the league with any sort of performance enhancer that the MLB deems illegal after that. Mr. Selig now needs to step up to the plate and put his foot down HARD.

What happened to Pete Rose when he went against the rules of baseball?!?!?!?!?! What is good for one should be good for the rest!!!!!!!!!

As far as the players found using HGH before it was banned by baseball; they found a loop hole but now that hole has been filled and going forward there should be no excuse. One strike and YOUR OUT, screw this “Number 856 please … Yes, your fine is $500,000 with a 5 game suspension - please make that check payable to the MLB and please read our rules or next time it will cost you even more. Number 857 please …”

As far as other sports (football, etc) were there is speculation of steroid usage I say bay all their sorry asses as well.

I applaud the Olympics for taking the steroid issue seriously and stripping everyone of their metals when it has been discovered that steroids were used.

I seem to view this whole thing a little less harsh then the bitters from NH. Maybe they have had to
shovel more snow then me this year or something. Anyway...I agree with Canseco that this report was a
joke and there are people missing from it. They busted a "dealer" from the Yankees and the Mets, very team had at least one of those guys. But 85% is a little much. The problem is baseball or any other professional sport will never let a ban like what the previous posted is looking for to happen. They are all profit driven
sports that need there stars in the game. If you start banning people for a first offense then you
would lose all of these big names from the game. Which in turn you have less people they want to see
and less people buying your products and going to games! And you cant have a rule for lower level players different from the big names so it will never happen. We have to deal with the fact that we lived through a tainted time of baseball and hope we are fans of those guys that stayed clean and played the game the right way. And as for Pete Rose totally
different story. By the time we was busted he was a manager only and people did not come to a game to watch him manage...so it didnt really hurt the product.

Cheating is cheating plain and simple. What everyone forgets is these players are overpaid crybabies who are cheating America's Pastime and more importantly, although should not be, are in fact role models for young and high school aged kids. How are we supposed to teach athletes not to cheat when everyone who is making it is? I am glad they took Roger Clemons off of Texas High School baseball websites and asked him not to talk to their athletes anymore.

All records should be stripped and if you get caught cheating from now on you should be suspended for half the season, have to go to drug education classes and community services until your reinstated, 2nd offense you should be banned for good.. There is no need for this BS anymore

I wholeheartedly disagree with one of the comments - There were no Red Sox listed in the Mitchell Report, so clearly the they have no PED users and are 100% clean! Every other team might have cheaters, but NOT THE RED SOX!!!

OK, back to reality - The Mitchell Report is a joke in the sense that it's only the tip of the iceberg, but the dood did the best that he could with what he was given. Had he been given the power of subpoena or some other means of actually getting people to talk, he certainly would have uncovered significantly more information (as evidenced by the simple fact that AFraud wasn't included on the list - when did Radomski stop working for the Yankees? HHHHMMMMM). You cannot retroactively punish the guys that were outed in the report without taking some sort of action to uncover who else was using back then. Doing so would be utterly ridiculous and nothing more than an embarrassing effort to save face. That said, toughen your standards (F&^% the union) and start kicking ass when people fail tests or get caught from this point forward.

Let's not forget that you and I caused and continually contribute to all of this by paying $300 per ticket and buying every piece of sports paraphernalia under the sun. To chastise these guys is somewhat hypocritical when you think about it (sort of like paying $3000 for an underpowered Dell laptop and then bitching about the 8 hours it takes the off-shore Hindu support guy - who you can't understand - to tell you that you need to boot into safe mode and run a chkdsk, all the time knowing that you're padding the pockets of George Bush supporter...If you don't like what's going down, take some initiative, support a superior product, and switch to a Mac!). The only way to send a message is to stop watching and supporting (Yeah, not only did I not go to Fenway for the first time last year, but the only Sox game that I watched from beginning-to-end all season was the World Series clincher). Sure, it will never happen around here, but as long as we're paying these ridiculous prices and supporting these putzes, the more illegal shit they're going to try and pull in order to gain an edge over the next guy and get their share of the billions of dollars that we blindly pay them. Do you seriously believe that there's no new HGH/steroid equivalent that these guys haven't already moved on to? GET REAL!!!

But, enough about PEDs and on to REDs (recreational enhancing drugs)!!! RUSTIC OVERTONES ARE BACK TOGETHER BIATCHES!!! WOO HOO!!! Now there's a cause worth supporting!

Strong points.
